In 1971, Roger and Carolyn Perron move into a farmhouse in Harrisville, Rhode Island with their five daughters Andrea, Christine, April, Cindy, and Nancy. Their dog Sadie refuses to enter the house, but Roger tries to get her in but she refuses and starts to growl. The first night, the girls played a game of hide and clap. While they were playing Nancy bumped into the wall where they find a boarded-up entrance to a cellar. After that night, Paranormal events occur within the first few nights: all of the clocks stop exactly at 3:07 am, birds are flying in their windows, and Sadie is found dead in the backyard. One night in bed, Christiane gets woken up by someone dragging her feet at night which she thinks it was her sister but the second time it happens she freaks out and wakes up. Christiane encounters a spirit only she can see, prompting her to claim that the spirit wants her family dead. Another night, Carolyn hears clapping in the hallway when she goes to investigate, following the noises, she gets pushed by something leading her to get trapped in the basement. While the mom is trapped, screaming out loud in the basement, Andrea and Cindy are attacked by the spirit on top of the wardrobe. After this terrific event, Carolyn decides to contact demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren, who have recently investigated a possessed doll called Annabelle. The Warrens agree to take on the case.  The next day, they go check the house of Roger and Carolyn. After the investigation, they conclude that the house may require an exorcism. The Warrens discover that the house once belonged to a witch, Bathsheba, who sacrificed her week-old child to the devil and killed herself in 1863 after cursing everyone who would take her land. The Perron family decides to take a break and go to a motel while Ed and Lorraine take their evidence of the house to the church. The Warrens daughter Judy is attacked in their own home by the spirit utilizing Annabelle, though Ed and Lorraine arrive in time to save her. Carolyn is now possessed by Bathsheba, takes Christine and April back to their house. Ed and Lorraine find Carolyn in the cellar trying to stab Christine and gets tied up by a chair. Ed decides to perform the exorcism himself without the priest. Carolyn escapes and attempts to kill April but Lorraine is able to distract her from killing her daughter by reminding her of a special memory she shared with her family, allowing Ed to complete the exorcism, Carolyn and her family and lifting Bathsheba’s curse forever. Returning home, Lorraine tells Ed that they had gained approval from the Catholic Church to perform an exorcism. I interviewed my friend Abby, she watched the movie and said “This movie is so scary! I love how it’s so suspenseful and the plot is very entertaining.”. I would give this movie 5/5 stars because I love scary movies and this one was very suspenseful and exciting, it scared me a lot.
