The Austin Bruins defeated the Bismarck Bobcats 4-1 at the Bruins home opener on Friday, October 14th at Riverside Arena. The Bruins scored 2 goals in the second period giving the team momentum into the third period. Bismarck cut the lead to 1, but the Bruins held on to the lead also netting two empty net goals to seal the victory. AJ Drobot, Bruins assistant captain, commented, “It’s fun to have the support of the town, it makes us feel special.” after the victory at home. The Bruins jumped 2 places in the standings because of the victory. Travis Kothenbuetl, Bruins captain, stated “After a win, it’s always nice to see a change in the standings.” The Bruins next home games are October 28th and  October 29th.
