The movie Bohemian Rhapsody came out November 2, 2018, and is based on the true story of Queen’s journey from nothing to their legendary 1985 performance at Wembley Stadium. Bohemian Rhapsody is also a song that celebrates Queen, their music group and their lead singer Freddie Mercury. Bohemian Rhapsody was written by Freddie Mercury for the band, Queens 1975 album “A Night at the Opera”. Freddie Mercury’s journey was not easy at all. He was an outcast immigrant that struggled to find where he wants to be in society. Then took a big leap in his life becoming an outstanding world famous artist. In the movie, it showed the great rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound. They felt like they reached the top of the mountain and no one could stop them from being the best ever. But an unexpected turn took place. Freddie Mercury was getting surrounded by dark habits, which led him to shun his band Queen in pursuit of his own solo career. Freddie Mercury didn’t gain what he expected when he left the band. He ended up suffering greatly with his departure from Queen. Freddie ends up finding out he is diagnosed with aids. Shortly after he bravely ends up reuniting with Queen just in time to perform one of the greatest performances of all time for music. Queen puts down a platform to continue to inspire outsiders, immigrants, dreamers, and people who love music to this day. This was such an inspirational story through their music group and remaking their story today into a great movie is spectacular. I work at the local movie theater in Austin and when heard Bohemian Rhapsody was showing I was excited to see how they would be able to remake their failure and success into a movie. I had the chance to interview one of my co-workers and also a student at Austin High School Chloe Guttormson. She went to the movie with her friends and said “It was a very good movie, I haven’t seen a movie in a while where they based it off of a band where they combined their personal life and music career together. While making the movie still enjoyable”. I also was able to get a chance to see the movie and I would say it lives up to the expectations people expected from the band Queen is such an icon in music.
