Math Masters was created around 30 years ago by a gentleman named Lew Aase and has grown much since. This is an organization where thousands of very intellectual 5th and 6th graders gather at over 45 different locations and compete as individuals and with their teammates. These students competed on subjects like pre-algebra and geometry. All students have a chance to win awards as they compete in parts all around Minnesota, few parts in Wisconsin, and one in Colorado and North Dakota. When asked who all participated in the competition on March 1st, Mrs. Sales replied “6th grade students from surrounding schools like Hayfield, Byron, Winona, and Austin, came to AHS to compete.” “Each student is on a team with 4 others to compete for 8 rounds, they also compete by themselves for another 4 rounds.” claims Mrs. Sales. The next competition held at AHS will be on April 19th where these students will continue to help their math skills grow, and hopefully make it to state.
